Athletes Therapeutic Counselling
When you need more support
When you need more support
Sometimes, athletes can go through periods when things become more difficult than usual. High training loads, ongoing stress, injury, nutritional deficiencies, performance pressure, or not having the right support and knowledge can all affect your mental wellbeing. If you are experiencing difficulties that require clinical support, I can help you find a qualified clinical psychologist or another appropriate professional through our practitioners’ sport network. You do not have to figure out on your own who to contact or where to start.
If you already work with a clinical psychologist, I can also work alongside them, where appropriate and with your consent. My role is not to replace clinical treatment, but to bring the sporting side into the picture. Because I can be present in your training environment, I may see things that are difficult to understand from a consultation room alone. I can observe your training and competitions, see how your body reacts, how you respond to pressure, understand the demands of your sport, explore your nutrition habits, and notice details in your everyday sporting environment that may otherwise be missed. By working alongside your psychologist, I can share relevant sport-specific insights and help connect what is happening in your sporting life with the wider support you are receiving. This can help create a clearer and more complete picture of you: not only as a person receiving psychological support, but as an athlete living and performing under the pressure of a real sporting environment.
